From Coast to Coast (and back): Day 8 - McLean, TX to Santa Rosa, NM

The destiny of Day 7 was McLean, TX, there was only one motel available and it was only mentioned in a guide of lodging and dining we brought. It was not in websites nor nothing. Fortunately it did exist and we arrived just before the thunderstorms arrive...

Nearby Jericho, a non-existent town, we entered a non-paved road to look for the cemetery, one of the existent points... At a point in the road this is what we had in front of us:

I should say we ended up not seeing any cemetery...

In Groom, Texas, there is this leaning water deposit, the owners decided it was more attractive to leave it like this than to fix the problem...

Still in Groom, there is this huge cross, just for reference, the little figure in front of it is one scene of the Stations of the Cross done in real size figures...

Before arriving to the famous Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, there is this Bug Ranch in Conway, where instead of Cadillacs there are VWs

Near the highway in Amarillo there are ads saying that in the Big Texan Restaurant you can it a 72oz steak for free (you have to be able to eat it all by yourself in less than 60 minutes, the record in the world is of 2min and some seconds and it belongs to a girl in Portland).
We stopped at the restaurant to take a look at it:

Near to Amarillo is the Palo Duro Canyon, a place worth a visit... Here are some views...

After visiting the park and walk some trails, time for lunch (an horrible one, by the way)

Chicken Strips with mashed potatoes and corn (I asked for a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans (I think green beans and corn do not look the same, but maybe it is just me))

As the route 66 changed its way over the years, there is some disagreement about where the midpoint is. Some say it is in Vega, TX, others say it is in the following town of Adrian, TX.
In my opinion, Adrian wins as they say they are the midpoint in...

Highway exit to Glenrio, a ghost town half in Texas and half in New Mexico

In Glenrio there is this motel, it used to say "The first in Texas" from the side of the photo and "The last in Texas" from the opposite site. By now, it does not say anything anymore...
