As we continue our route, the landscape becomes more arid, less crowded, but also more scenic. The presence of the native peoples here is impressive. Many towns visited by Route 66 are recognized tribes by the federal government which grants them special government autonomy. These are truly isolated that resemble some communities in Europe.
